Open Thread: "What If He'd Won?"

Tue May 13, 2008 at 08:43:53 AM PDT

Don't mind me. I'm sick, bored, in the house on summer break with nothing to do but surf the web and Yahoo. My shortest diary ever, but hey.

Had a short discussion with a few friends about how things would be different if anybody other than McCain was our opponent in November. To be specific, the question was who would make the race, if not easier, a lot less agonizing and/or... dare I say, fun?

Protest Alberto Gonzales Tomorrow, in St. Louis!

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 04:36:47 PM PDT

Straight to the point.

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is scheduled to be here in St. Louis tomorrow, Feb. 19th. For what reason, I do not know, and do not care. He will be at Washington University at 5:00pm.

Disgraced former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is being paid $30,000 by the WashU Student Union to speak on our campus. An additional $5,000 has been allocated for "extra security."

My First Ever Presidential (Primary) Ballot!!!

Sat Dec 29, 2007 at 04:33:36 PM PDT

This will be a very short entry, but I'm in such a good mood right now that I had to share. I, at 20 years of age, have cast my very first ballot (absentee of course) for the Presidential race.

Is Obama Suggesting War within Pakistan? (Update)

Wed Aug 01, 2007 at 07:32:25 AM PDT

I am unsure of what to think about this article.

Emphasis added by me.

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Wednesday that he would send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists even without local permission if warranted — an attempt to show strength when his chief rival has described his foreign policy skills as naive.

"Even without local permission"?

My views after the fold.

Sorry if the title doesn't excite you. Just woke up, couldn't think of anything else.

Woke up (30 minutes ago) with two petitions in my inbox. One from MoveOn.org  concerning clean energy, the other from the Edwards campaign concerning Alberto Gonzales.

"Right Wing" wishes death upon Edwards - Updated

Tue Jun 26, 2007 at 08:28:16 AM PDT

As 2006 came to an end, I remember making a statement at a gathering that the 2008 Presidential elections were going to be an extraordinary election, with the future of America and much of the world at stake, almost a life and death moment for America. A couple of my older family members almost immediately berated me upon saying it, informing me "No time is ordinary in this country, every generation has its unique situations that they feel are pivotal moments in history". While I agreed with them (2000 and 2004 were fresh in my mind), I still felt that 2008 would be... different.

Little did I know that my point would be proven the minute I woke up today.

Even they seemed to be taken aback by what I had received in an email this morning. Not even they, with all the years behind them, could remember a time when death was openly wished upon a Presidential candidate. Not even Bush, as hated as he had become in 2004, drew that type of ire. For a moment, I'm sure we (my family and I) were thinking to ourselves "Damn... what did John Edwards do to get this?"

Guard attacks Guard at Walter Reed

Wed Jun 20, 2007 at 05:28:08 PM PDT

It would seem that in light of all the scrunity regarding the Walter Reed Medical Center, you'd think that people would be a lot less... stupid?

Well, it would appear that we were proven wrong.

Was just surfing through Yahoo news to brush up on events, since I've been sleep all day, and THIS headline catches my eye:

"Guard Opens Fire Outside Walter Reed"
